Luna’s Bewitched released on vinyl today

Today Luna’s second album Bewitched gets its first ever vinyl release via Gotta Groove Records. The LP is a limited run of 1500 copies (so not too limited!) and can be ordered from Gotta Groove’s Bandcamp page.

This means that as of today all of Luna’s albums have now been released on vinyl. Later in the year Penthouse, which was only available on vinyl in the UK via Beggars Banquet, will be getting re-released on vinyl – more details on that as soon as I have any.

  1. Bewitched, one of Luna’s finest and most dreamy albums was finally released on vinyl by Gotta Groove Records in a limited edition of 1500 copies. Now … 4 of the copies were Test Pressings, and they would randomly be handed out to those who pre-ordered this bit of wanderlust. Needless to say, I was holding my breath during the two months it took from pre-order to delivery. Finally on the 27th of August there was a package inside my courtyard … but not just an ordinary package, oh no, this was a package that held a record, a package that was literally bent in half and crushed. Of course the Post Office would take non of the responsibility for this mess, though a call to Gotta Groove Records, along with pictures seemed to resolve the issue. They assured me that a new copy would be on the way. While I had them on the phone I asked who the lucky recipients of the this test pressing were, and they assured me that it was random, that they had no knowledge. I then asked if they wanted me to send back this mess or what. Matt said to keep it, and play it if possible. After hanging up the phone I opened my copy, and low and behold, there was a Test Pressing in my little hands … I was one of the four lucky one’s … but mine was bent … #@*&. I’d won, and the post office had stolen it from me. Never the less, I put my gem beneath a heavy book to bake under the New Mexican sun, and sure enough, sort of, it flattened out enough to play. I’m not certain if the story makes it all that much better or not, but I have one of four, and in any condition, its a treasure for me.

Oddly enough, with all this luster and concern, no on thought to include the song “Sucking Ice Cubes,” which only shows up on the Japan CD release of Bewitched.

*** The Test Pressing is denoted by blank labels affixed to the record that indicate a test pressing, along with time and dates. There is no album name, no tracking, or other information.

*** Andy’s got the images of my bent masterpiece …

  2. Mine arrived on Friday. Says “FIRST PRESSING” on the back on the upper right. Does that mean it’s one of the test pressings?

  3. OK … just got this in the email 2 minutes ago.

    Hi There–

This is just a notification to let you know that the Luna Bewitched vinyl you pre-ordered from us this summer has shipped!

We are aware that some folks did not receive USPS shipping notifications when their copies shipped out earlier this week. So, this is just a note to let you know that we have shipped all pre-orders out, and if you did not receive a USPS notification, please feel free to drop us a line and we will look it up for you.

Otherwise, be expecting your copy(ies) in the next few weeks or sooner, depending upon your location!

Thank you so much for pre-ordering our first “Private Label” release – this one was a long time in the works, and we are excited that you wanted to hear this record on vinyl as much as we did!

      1. If you haven’t gotten an email, I’d probably get in touch with the folks. I just checked the tracking, mine’s still in Columbus, Ohio, and they’re shipping by Media Mail, so even in the States that can take up to 9 days.

        Good Luck Cowboy, J

PS … Anyone, Please, I’m looking for a large in the brown Luna tee-shirt with the pony, and any other tee-shits folks might have tucked away in the bottom drawer. I will pay :)
